Buriram, Thailand (AFP) – Six-time Spanish world champion Marc Marquez clocked the fastest lap on Thursday during the second day of pre-season testing at the Buriram circuit, achieving a time of 1min 28.855sec. This testing session comes just two weeks before the 2025 MotoGP season kicks off.
Marquez led the pack, followed closely by his brother Alex Marquez, who recorded a time of 1min 29.034, and Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi, who finished with 1min 29.060.
This performance further solidifies Marquez’s strong start with the Ducati team, which he joined in January to team up with Italian Francesco Bagnaia in their quest for the championship title. Bagnaia finished the session in fifth place with a time of 1min 29.378.
“It’s been a very good pre-season,” Marquez remarked with a smile.
Spanish title holder Jorge Martin was unable to participate due to a hand injury sustained in a crash in Malaysia that required surgery.
The testing took place under hot conditions, with temperatures reaching around 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit), giving the riders a preview of what to expect when they return to the same circuit for the season opener on March 2.
The upcoming Thai Grand Prix will kick off the longest season in MotoGP history, featuring 22 races on the calendar.
