Suicide After Losing 50000 Baht

A tragic event occurred in Pattaya when a 32-year-old public relations professional took her own life after being deceived in an online jade auction, leading to a loss of 50,000 baht. Despite her boyfriend’s efforts to console her, she was ultimately overwhelmed by stress.

The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre in Pattaya received an emergency call reporting a suicide attempt in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Rescue teams, alongside local police, responded quickly.

Upon arrival, they found Mr. Somchai (name changed), 39, in deep distress after discovering his girlfriend, Ms. Niphaporn (surname withheld), unconscious. She had attempted suicide by hanging herself with a pillowcase from the iron bars of their bedroom window. Mr. Somchai had taken her down before the rescue team arrived, and although CPR was administered, Ms. Niphaporn tragically passed away. Her family was left devastated, with relatives overcome by grief at the scene.

Mr. Somchai later revealed that his girlfriend had been under immense pressure after falling victim to the jade auction scam, which cost her over 50,000 baht. In addition, she was struggling with depression and undergoing treatment for substance abuse recovery. Mr. Somchai had assured her he would help recover the money, but the stress was too much for her to handle.

That night, Mr. Somchai discovered her and immediately called for help. Despite the rescue team’s best efforts, they were unable to save her.

Police Lieutenant Yatthiphong Chiamphuak from the Nong Prue Police Station has ordered that Ms. Niphaporn’s body be transferred to Bang Lamung Hospital and later sent for an autopsy at the Police General Hospital’s forensic institute. The investigation is ongoing, with family members being interviewed.
