A team of administrative and municipal officials carried out inspections of entertainment venues along Walking Street in South Pattaya with a focus on improving fire safety measures and preventing potential fire-related incidents.
The inspections concentrated on evaluating fire escape routes and the adequacy of fire extinguishing equipment installed by venue operators. Officials reported that the venues were well-prepared, with sufficient fire extinguishers and clearly marked fire exits easily visible to tourists. “It’s essential that visitors can quickly identify and access these exits,” said Banglamung District Chief Weekit Manarojkit. In addition to equipment checks, officials provided guidance to operators on the importance of regular inspections of fire extinguishers and alarm systems. They also highlighted the need for staff training to ensure employees can effectively assist tourists during a fire emergency.
With the high tourist season approaching, Weekit emphasized that the inspections were aimed at boosting confidence in the safety of local attractions, particularly along Walking Street. “We want tourists to feel assured that safety measures, including emergency exits and fire alarms, are in place,” he added. Pattaya City Mayor Poramet Ngampichet echoed this sentiment, affirming the city’s commitment to working with Banglamung District and other agencies, such as the Building Control Office, to enforce fire safety protocols. “We are dedicated to ensuring all fire exits and extinguishers are operational and easily accessible,” he stated. Officials plan to conduct comprehensive checks on all establishments, stressing the importance of protecting both the lives and property of tourists visiting Pattaya.
