Everton Seal Late Deadline Day Move for Chelsea's Broja

Everton has secured a late deadline day deal to sign Chelsea forward Armando Broja on a season-long loan, which includes an option to make the move permanent next summer.

The 22-year-old Albania international appeared set to finalize a transfer to Ipswich before a last-minute twist allowed the Merseyside club to submit a deal sheet just before the 23:00 BST deadline. Broja is expected to be sidelined until mid-October due to a foot injury.

Currently under contract with Chelsea until 2028, Broja has previously spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, Southampton, and Fulham. Everton’s director of football, Kevin Thelwell, expressed his excitement about the signing: “Having monitored Armando’s journey for a number of years, we’re very pleased to have been able to bring him to the club. Armando is still a young player who has already gained impressive experience, and we believe he has great potential to be unlocked.”

With Everton yet to score a Premier League goal this season, manager Sean Dyche is hopeful that Broja will provide the much-needed boost to their attacking options once he returns to fitness.

Broja’s arrival marks the sixth new addition to Dyche’s squad this summer, following the loan signing of midfielder Orel Mangala from Lyon, as well as the arrivals of midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, defender Jake O’Brien, attacking midfielder Iliman Ndiaye, and winger Jesper Lindstrom.
