British Tourist Injured in Pattaya Hit-and-Run

A 76-year-old British tourist was moderately injured after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Pattaya early on July 7, 2024.

The accident occurred at 12:10 AM on Soi Arunothai, Pattaya Central Road, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Emergency responders arrived to find Mr. Graham Hughes lying injured on the road.

The 76-year-old appeared semi-conscious and had suffered a dislocated left shoulder and a laceration on his foot. The responders provided first aid before urgently transporting him to Banglamung Hospital.

According to eyewitness Ms. Pirawan, 41, Mr. Hughes had been in Thailand for two days and had just finished drinking at a bar when he was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing the street. The impact threw him to the ground, and the motorcyclist did not stop to help, immediately speeding away from the scene.

Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage of the accident and are searching for the motorcyclist as of press time.
