Director Shawn Levy Confirms Restrictions Director Shawn Levy has disclosed that overt drug use was a subject of discussion for the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie, but it wasn’t allowed in the film. They did, however, include a line referencing it. When Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters in July, it will mark a significant milestone for Marvel Studios as their first R-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite the buzz around the film’s edgy content and related merchandise, Levy explained to Total Film (via GamesRadar) that some elements were deemed off-limits.
“I’m so wary of what I can say but certainly there were early conversations about overt drug use,” Levy said. “And we thought that was an interesting conversation. Let’s actually write a dialogue scene about having had it.”
This dialogue made it into one of the film’s trailers, where Deadpool makes a comment to Blind Al (Leslie Uggams) about “Bolivian marching powder” — a slang term for cocaine — being off-limits.

“And that’s all she wrote for post production,” Reynolds shared, tagging Levy in the post. “Feels like a million years of work went by in a blink. Sitting next to this guy made it all so sweet… hard to walk away.”
