Thai authorities, along with relevant agencies, apprehended a Cambodian woman in possession of 5.3 million amphetamine pills at a residence in Nong Suea, Pathum Thani.
According to police reports, the Cambodian suspect, publicly identified as Mrs. Saraitus On, aged 30, allegedly played a role in the drug trafficking network known as “First Klong Luang,” alongside her Thai husband, publicly identified only as Mr. Virayuth or First.
The police arrested the Cambodian suspect at a house in Nong Suea, Pathum Thani, where she was found with 2.8 million amphetamine pills. Her husband managed to evade capture by fleeing into an irrigation canal nearby during the night. Additionally, authorities discovered another stash of 2.5 million amphetamine pills and a 9mm pistol inside a car parked nearby.
Earlier, the police were probing a drug trafficking case originating from a neighboring country. The primary suspect, publicly known only as Mr. Sarayuth, was evading authorities overseas. He allegedly instructed Virayuth to move a substantial quantity of amphetamines from northern to central Thailand.
According to police reports , Virayuth and his wife had rented a residence in Nong Khae, Saraburi, to stash illegal substances. However, they allegedly received a tip-off, prompting them to relocate the contraband to another house in Nong Suea, Pathum Thani, for wider distribution among locals.
Police managed to trace Virayuth’s whereabouts and pursued him. Despite initially escaping into an irrigation canal, Virayuth left his wife behind at the residence.
It’s been disclosed that authorities confiscated a total of 5.3 million amphetamine pills, with an additional 2.3 million already distributed to others.
This successful operation was carried out under the direct orders of Mr. Chada Thaiseth, the Deputy Minister of the Interior, as part of a stringent campaign to eliminate illicit substances from Thai society and crack down on drug dealers.
