Don Mueang International Airport is poised for a bustling Songkran holiday season, anticipating a remarkable 10.58% rise in passenger traffic compared to the previous year. This surge, according to Wichit Kaewsaitiam, the airport’s general manager, is credited to the government’s initiatives aimed at stimulating domestic expenditure and tourism.
During the period from April 11 to 17, Don Mueang International Airport is set to receive over 4,000 flights, comprising 2,432 domestic flights and the remaining international. These flights are expected to bring approximately 625,530 passengers to the capital city.
In response to the anticipated surge in passenger traffic, Don Mueang International Airport has implemented several upgrades geared towards enhancing both passenger experience and safety. These enhancements encompass the introduction of self-service check-in counters, a common-use bag drop system, a new passenger validation system, and self-boarding gates.
For arriving passengers, the airport has streamlined the transfer process to the city by offering various options, including online booking services for Grab and Cabb, as well as convenient access to the SRT Red Line and feeder buses, facilitating connectivity to Bangkok’s electric train routes.
To accommodate travelers’ vehicles, the airport boasts two car parks with a combined capacity for 3,508 vehicles. Additionally, shuttle buses operate around the clock, ensuring seamless transportation between the car parks and terminals. Officials affirm that these preparations position the airport well to efficiently manage the anticipated influx of holiday travelers.
