High speed chase though Pattaya nabs carjacker

A spectacular automobile pursuit ensued as Pattaya police demonstrated unrelenting persistence and skill, resulting in the arrest of a carjacking robber. The exciting pursuit occurred near a popular shopping complex on Pattaya Beach Road, putting locals on edge and glad for the authorities’ quick response.

The spectacular sequence of events began when Somchai Khetkhan, a 47-year-old delivery worker, was targeted by a daring auto thief who was after his white Isuzu D-Max four-door pickup truck. Despite his rapid thinking, Somchai was unable to prevent the criminal from entering the vehicle. “I didn’t turn off the engine because I expected to deliver my goods quickly.” When I observed a thief creeping into the automobile, I leapt onto the back.

I hopped onto the back of the pickup truck as soon as I observed a crook slipping into the automobile. The robber’s bravado intensified as he pressed the gas pedal and sped away, leaving me in a precarious situation. “I yelled for assistance.”

A watchful witness immediately contacted Pattaya police, prompting a speedy reaction from Pol. Col. Tanapong Poti, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station. The police reacted quickly, coordinating their attempts to arrest the fleeing culprit.

With excitement pumping through their veins, the cops led a high-speed chase through the downtown streets, demonstrating their ability and bravery. Desperate to get away, the carjacker drove recklessly through traffic, pushing the stolen vehicle to its limits.
As the chase neared its conclusion, the police, assisted by onlookers, anticipated the carjacker’s maneuvers and successfully cornered him at the Lan Pho market in Naklua. The trap was prepared, and the offender had no way out.
The cops executed the arrest with accuracy, resolving the situation without causing hurt or damage. The culprit, identified as Sao Songsaeng, a 29-year-old Pattaya seaside mat renter, has no prior history of violent crime.

Interrogation revealed his motivation: nostalgia and homesickness for his birthplace of Chiang Rai. Police detained him for further questioning, postponing his return home indefinitely.
