Despite leaving a sizable hole in a car windscreen, a tomcat in Bangkok, Thailand, managed to survive a six-story fall without suffering any serious injuries.
The car’s owner, known online as Apiwat Toyothaka, revealed on Saturday that he was alerted of the event by the administration of his condominium at 7am.
The digital artist, who also has a cat, said he restrained his rage when he noticed the cat, which had fled from the large gap in his cracked windscreen and was now cowering under his car.
According to The Nation, the cat’s name, Shifu, is a reference to Master Shifu from the Kung Fu Panda movies.
The 8.5 kg cat is captured on closed-circuit television briefly hanging from the sixth-floor balcony before sliding off. The third-floor balcony receives a brief impact from the object before it crashes onto Mr. Apiwat’s car’s rear glass.
Mr. Apiwat claimed that Shifu’s X-rays indicated no broken bones and that it just lost two claws.Shifu was eating and peeing OK following the event, he added on Monday. He was also able to file a claim with the insurance company for damages to his car.
The incident, according to Mr. Thanakorn Jongjaemfah, manager of the condo on Soi Sathupradit 49, demonstrates why homeowners are prohibited from keeping pets, according to The Nation.
Shifu’s owner received a 1,000 baht fine, and according to him, she has vowed to relocate her cat to a relative’s house. It is known that cats can survive falls from significant heights.
