Nearly all of the SAG Awards are won by Everything Everywhere. The absurdist dimension-hopping film is poised for Oscar triumph on March 12 thanks to a close to perfect showing.
journey spanning dimensions The winner of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Everything Everywhere All at Once, has solidified its position as the front-runner for the prized best picture award at the Oscars later this month.
The movie, about a Chinese-American family facing a tax audit who wind up battling a universe-hopping supervillain, also took home awards for best supporting actor Ke Huy Quan, best supporting actress Jamie Lee Curtis, and best actress for Michelle Yeoh.
Yeoh accepted her trophy while sobbing uncontrollably and used a few expletives.
This isn’t just for me, either. “This is for every young lady who resembles me,” declared Yeoh, a Malaysian native who was born and raised there. I appreciate being seated at the table.
Quan, who had a prominent role in an Indiana Jones movie as a child star in 1984 but had long since given up acting, highlighted that he was the first Asian to win in the category.

The Vietnamese-American actor claimed, “When I stopped performing, it was because there were so few opportunities. “Compared to earlier, the countryside looks completely different. I want to express my gratitude to everyone in this room who helped make these changes.
Yeoh gave the microphone to James Hong, who played her father in the movie, who is 94 years old, as the cast took the stage for the ensemble award.
In the beginning of his career, Hong recalled, directors would tell white actors to tape their eyes in order to play “Asian” roles since Asians were “not good enough.”
He responded, “But look at us now,” to thunderous applause.
The SAG awards from the actors’ union cap off a month in which Everything Everywhere won best film from directors’ and producers’ organizations as well, solidifying it as the front-runner for the Oscars on March 12 of the next month.
Actors make up the largest number of Oscar voters, thus SAG’s film winners, chosen by more than 120,000 members of Hollywood’s acting organization, are closely monitored.
Several prestigious awards, such as those from the Directors Guild and Producers Guild, have been won by Everything Everywhere. With more than $107 million in ticket sales, the movie is also financially successful. It is the highest-grossing movie A24 has ever released.
Brendan Fraser won the SAG award for best male movie actor on Sunday, making him the only actor from a movie other than Everything Everywhere to do so.
Before playing the character of a reclusive, morbidly obese dad wanting to reconnect with his daughter in The Whale, Brendan Fraser, one of Hollywood’s top actors in the late 1990s and early 2000s with films like The Mummy, underwent a protracted period of inactivity.
