Travel boom raises Covid-19 concerns in Chonburi

Travel boom
The rush of people visiting Pattaya and Koh Lan beaches, has raised fears of a fresh outbreak of Covid-19.

The beaches were opened to the public under the third phase of the easing of the nationwide lockdown.

The Ministry of Transport has instructed concerned agencies, especially the Harbour Department that takes care of port and boat services, to ensure that tourists follow social distancing, as well as request cooperation from tourists to constantly comply with virus prevention measures.

On Sunday (June 7), Atirat Rattanaset, Deputy Minister of Transport, made a sudden inspection of the Bali Hai pier in Chonburi province.

He reiterated that despite relaxation of the lockdown, everyone must still strictly follow the preventive measures.

Chonburi province has seen a surge in visitors since it has many tourist attractions, and due to its proximity to Bangkok.
