Five residents caught breaking a Covid-19 curfew in the Philippines were allegedly locked in a dog cage.
The group were picked up by police after staying out later than the 8 pm cut off point authorities have imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Pictures show how the three men and two teenagers were locked inside the cramped and rusty metal cage in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, on March 20.
The town hall chairman stood behind posing for a picture before a car towed away the alleged curfew violators in their cage.
The incident was photographed and reported by a local who refused to be named. They said the metal cages are usually used for catching stray dogs.
Outraged residents slammed the use of the dog cage while an activist group, Human Rights Watch, said the treatment was ”cruel”.
