Former TV Host Thanks the Court for granting him bail

After having spent 15 days behind bars at the Bangkok Remand Prison. Former TV host “Sorayuth” Suthassanachinda thanked the Supreme Court for granting him a bail

Sorrayuth, also managing director of Rai Som Company and his staff, Ms. Montha Thiradet were set free on five-million baht bail each under the conditions that they must report to the court every three months and must not leave the country without prior permission from the court.

The high court’s order for the temporary release of Sorrayuth was read by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases on Tuesday (Sept 12).

Sorrayuth told the media after being freed from jail at about 7 pm that it was a tough life in prison, but he must try to adjust himself to be able to be there.

He said that, for his case, his request for bail had to be certified by the Supreme Court before the court could consider his request. So he and his lawyer had tried to speed up drawing up the bail request despite the difficulty in communication, but they finally made it and the high court granted him bail, he added.

Sorrayuth said he and his lawyer would do their best in the trial by the Supreme Court which would be his final court battle.

On Aug 29, the Appeals Court upheld the lower court’s 13-year four months jail term on Sorayuth for bribery and embezzlement for cheating the Mass Communications Organization of Thailand out of more than 138 million baht in advertisement revenue during his news talk program on Channel 9 during 2005-2006.
