The trailer for A Quiet Place Part II is finally here ahead of its release later this year. Watch it here:
The follow-up to the 2018 hit horror flick will see Emily Blunt reprise her role as Evelyn alongside Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe, who will be returning as Regan and Marcus, respectively – as well as the new baby.
Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy will also appear in the sequel, as well as Djimon Hounsou – who gave an Oscar-nominated performance in Blood Diamond.
Of course, John Krasinski – who starred in the first movie as Lee and is married to Blunt in real life – won’t be starring this time round, but he did still direct and write the movie.
In a recent interview with Total Film, Krasinski has said we’ll see Evelyn and the kids battle with the concepts of survival versus thriving in the post-apocalyptic landscape.
He said: “I love the idea of the first one, that Emily and I as characters were all about surviving versus the thriving. All [my character] wanted to do was survive.
“And [her character] says, ‘That’s not enough. We have to thrive. We have to let these kids be whole human beings.’ And after I’m gone, I’m loving seeing Emily really battle with that – that maybe survival was the way to go. And maybe this idea of thriving was too dangerous.”
An official synopsis reads: “The Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they realise that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.”
Opening up about his sequel, Krasinski told The Big Picture podcast: “[With A Quiet Place Part II], we have the world. So it’s actually the world that’s built, it’s the idea that the rest of the world is going through this exact same experience. Are there other people that have to survive like this?
“It’s that idea of living through the set of circumstances, not again in the same way obviously, but exploring it more. You only got to do it intimately for a small amount of time, so what happens next?”
Well, that all sounds very exciting, doesn’t it? And we don’t have too much of a wait, because A Quiet Place Part II hits cinemas on 20 March 2020.
