Championship Bound Fulham Bounce Back With A Fine Win Against In-Form Everton. Match Highlights. Player Ratings. Manager Comments, And Stats.
By: Marc Gingell
Fulham, without a win since January and with relegation confirmed, seemed to play with a new found confidence against Everton and came away with a deserved victory.
Match Details
13/4/2019 | Craven Cottage | Fulham | 2-0 | Everton |
KO:15:00 | ATT: 24,971 | Tom Cairney 46′
REF: L Probert | Ryan Babel 69′
Ryan Babel – The Architect!
Ryan Babel, snapped up by Claudio Ranieri in the January transfer window, proved the architect of this victory. Babel, a former Liverpool player who rather apologetically scored against his former club a few weeks back, would have enjoyed this one a lot more.
On 46 minutes he set Tom Cairney up for a shot from just inside the box after a good run down the left. That put Fulham one up and the second cam on 69 minutes when Babel ran on to a Aleksandar Mitrovic flicked header from just inside the Everton half and central. He showed great pace and superb composure as he dinked the ball over the advancing Jordan Pickford.

Marco Silva Comments:
“It was a disappointing result and a disappointing performance. I didn’t expect this because we’ve been on a good run, and we’ve been in good confidence also. We knew it would be difficult playing here.
“Fulham played with character to achieve something for them, and they were more aggressive and faster than us. We didn’t perform in the way we needed to in order to win the match.”
