Puel and Hodgson
Claude Puel and Roy Hodgson are two old school team managers who let their players celebrate goals whilst they might punch the air in a show of emotion. They’re not the type to run up and down the touch line or even on the pitch. They are more reserved.
Roy Hodgson
At Leicester Hodgson, at 71 years of age and 198 days, took over from Bobby Robson to become the oldest manager to take charge of a team in a Premier League game. His team celebrated the occasion by knocking four past Leicester and getting closer to Premier League survival.
Claude Puel
After the game Puel, when questioned, shrugged his shoulders a few times and didn’t really seemed that interested. Not long after that he cleared out his managers desk. The problem with Claude is that he’s never been a fans favorite. He’s a bit boring. A bit safe. At Southampton, despite the team finishing in a good position, the fans wanted him out and they got their wish. But they might wish they’d kept him as they’ve struggled since.
Newport Hangover
Leicester lost to Newport in the FA Cup where Puel, who said he respected the FA Cup, put out a weakened team. That might well have been the last straw for many Leicester fans. A good cup run might well have saved his job. It’s been downhill since that defeat and now he’s gone.
Who Comes In?
Celtic’s Brendon Rodgers appears to be in the frame along with former boss Nigel Pearson. Leicester seem safe from relegation so there’s no point in bringing in Sam Allardyce is there?
