In relation to a lottery fraud in Thailand, law enforcement officers working under the direction of Colonel Santichai Srisawad and Major General Montree Teskan detained a 40-year-old woman today. The woman under suspicion was well-known in the Thai lottery community. She was charged with impersonating and defaming governmental institutions when she was taken into custody on September 6th, pursuant to a warrant issued by the Kantharalak Provincial Court.
Duangkamon, often referred to as Je Koy, allegedly used her connections to get powerful people to get her victims to buy government lottery quotas at a discount. She deceived a lot of people into sending money to Duangkamon with the intention of profiting from the lottery tickets. They later learned that the purported quota was untrue, but they never did receive the promised Thai lottery tickets.
The victims, who lost more than 180 million baht (US$ 4,964,763) in total, filed a police report about the incident, which resulted in the arrest of the Thai lottery scammer, according to KhaoSod.
When they found Duangkamon hiding in Phrai Bueng, Sisaket Province, authorities arrested the suspected fraudster and took evidence from her home, including seven bankbooks, fourteen cash cards, and six cell phones.
Additionally, they discovered proof of a fraudulent LINE application chat intended to trick victims. Furthermore, the accused fraudster disparaged governmental institutions with offensive words and imagery.
Duangkamon acknowledged defamation, citing hardship from victims’ tremendous pressure to return their money, but he denied the fraud claims. The accused Thai lottery scammer expressed profound regret for her conduct and admitted to fabricating the scheme out of desperation. The 3rd Border Patrol Police Division has received the evidence and will be conducting more investigations.
