Arsenal’s 16-year-old goalkeeper Jack Porter is poised to make his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup third round against Bolton Wanderers tonight, according to The Athletic.
The decision comes as precaution for first-choice keeper David Raya, who displayed signs of a minor injury during Sunday’s match against Manchester City. Backup goalkeeper Neto is cup-tied after playing for Bournemouth earlier in the tournament, and 18-year-old Tommy Setford is currently sidelined due to injury, leading Arsenal to turn to Porter for this fixture.
Porter, who celebrated his 16th birthday in July, has occasionally trained with the first team since the 2022/23 season and has shown considerable promise. Recently, he has been more involved in first-team training, demonstrating impressive skills in handling, ball-playing, and overall confidence.
Prior to this match, Porter was included in the matchday squad and sat on the bench during Arsenal’s Champions League tie against Atalanta last week. While Raya’s injury is believed to be minor, he is expected to be available for Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League clash against Leicester City this weekend.
