A young Thai woman tragically lost her life in Pattaya after driving her motorcycle in the wrong direction and colliding with a pickup truck. The Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit was notified of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Sukhumvit Road, just before the South Pattaya traffic light in Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Both the rescue team and The Pattaya News quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, the rescue team found 28-year-old Ms. Chonthita Kulkantang lying unconscious in a pool of blood on the road, suffering from severe injuries. They administered initial first aid and performed CPR in an attempt to save her life before rushing her to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
At the scene, authorities discovered Ms. Chonthita’s pink Honda Scoopy-i motorcycle, which had been struck by a black Mitsubishi Titan pickup truck, heavily damaged in the front. The truck’s driver, 45-year-old Mr. Pairoj Pholkonkaen, was uninjured and remained at the scene, where he provided a statement to the police. According to Mr. Pairoj, he was driving along Sukhumvit Road toward South Pattaya when he failed to notice Ms. Chonthita driving in the wrong direction, resulting in a head-on collision.
A street cleaner, Ms. Jaruwan Mahaniyom, 40, who witnessed the accident, reported that she saw the motorcycle rider speeding from South Pattaya before suddenly swerving into oncoming traffic, where she was struck by the pickup truck.
Pattaya Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident and to assess any potential legal charges.
