This document not only specifies which medical examinations need to be undertaken and the deadlines but also informs the hospital of what needs to be done. It is important to note that visa medical examinations cannot be done by any doctor of your choice but must be conducted by an Australian government-approved doctor, known as a ‘panel physician’.
In Thailand, Australian visa medical examinations can be conducted in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, and Udon Thani only. If you are required to undergo a visa medical for your Australian visa, it must be completed within the required timeframe, and you must satisfy the health criteria before your visa can be granted. Once completed, the results are sent directly to the Department. If any further follow-up tests are required, you will be notified by the Department. In Thailand, there have been cases where applicants’ visa medical examinations were deferred for further tests after anomalies appeared in their chest X-rays, potentially indicating past exposure to or presence of tuberculosis (TB).
