Transgender Driver Admits to Drunk Driving Accident With Sidecar Vendor in Pattaya

PATTAYA, Thailand – A late-night collision on Pattaya Third Road left a 39-year-old meatball vendor seriously injured after a car crashed into his motorcycle sidecar at 4:30 AM on March 19, near Xzyte Square.

The victim, identified as Athipong Phuchamchot, was found lying motionless on the roadside with severe injuries to his lower hip, unable to move. His food cart was severely damaged, with a shattered glass case and meatballs scattered across the street. The impact left the rear of the sidecar crushed, while a white Mitsubishi sedan was found nearby with visible damage from the collision.

The driver, 29-year-old transgender woman Atthachai Arichareonkul, was discovered at the scene in distress, visibly shaken and sobbing. She admitted to police that she had been drinking with friends before driving home and did not see the sidecar vendor’s vehicle in time to avoid the crash.

Authorities conducted a breathalyzer test on Atthachai, and legal proceedings are set to follow.
