The Thailand Meteorological Department said on Monday that a moderate high-pressure system covers upper Thailand and the South China Sea.
The westerly trough covers the North while the southerly and southeasterly winds bring moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to the lower North, the Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East regions.
Summer storms are forecast for some parts of upper Thailand with thunderstorms, gusty winds, hail and lightning in some areas. Isolated heavy rains are also possible.
The department also said that the southwesterly and southeasterly winds would bring isolated thundershowers to the South.
The weather forecast for the next 24 hours:
North: Thunderstorm and gusty winds in 60 per cent of the areas, isolated heavy rain and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 19-22 degrees Celsius, highs of 24-29°C.
Northeast: Thunderstorm and gusty winds in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 20-25°C, highs of 27-35°C.
Central: Thunderstorm and gusty winds in 60 per cent of the areas, isolated heavy rain and hail are possible in some areas; temperature lows of 22-23°C, highs of 29-33°C.
East: Thunderstorm and gusty winds in 40 per cent of the areas with isolated heavy rains; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 31-33°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
South (east coast): Thundershowers in 60 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 22-25°C, highs of 30-34°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
South (west coast): Thundershowers in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 33-35°C; waves a metre high and 1-2 metres during thundershowers.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Mostly cloudy with thundershowers and gusty winds in 40 per cent of the areas; temperature lows of 23-25°C, highs of 30-34°C.
