The Premier League is investigating Chelsea FC for suspected financial rule violations during Roman Abramovich’s ownership of the club.
After taking over Chelsea last summer, the US-led group reported the club to UEFA and the Premier League.
The Premier League has not charged Chelsea with anything as of yet.
If they were discovered to have broken the rules, they could face a fine or a point deduction.
On July 28, UEFA announced that Chelsea had been fined €10 million (£8.6 million) for “submitting incomplete financial information” between 2012 and 2019.
Chelsea has not responded.
Abramovich’s 19-year reign as Chelsea owner ended in May 2022.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the UK government sanctioned him months earlier, claiming he had demonstrated ties to President Vladimir Putin.
Chelsea was sold for £4.25 billion to a group led by LA Dodgers part-owner Todd Boehly and majority-funded by Clearlake Capital, a Californian investment business.
