Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,968,106 Covid-19 patients, 1,853,210 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,996,969 Covid-19 cases, with 1,880,636 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 19,789 during the third wave and 19,883 since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the afternoon briefing, the 57 latest fatalities were aged 20 to 97 years and included one Lao national.
Bangkok recorded seven more deaths and there was another reported in the adjacent province of Samut Prakan.
Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 13 more deaths – in Ayutthaya (3), Chon Buri (3), Ratchaburi (2), Saraburi (2), Phetchaburi (1), Chanthaburi (1) and Sa Kaeo (1).
The Northeast had nine 10 fatalities – in Nakhon Ratchasima (2), Ubon Ratchathani (2), Khon Kaen (2), Roi Et (1), Mukdahan (1), Nakhon Phanom (1) and Bung Kan (1).
The South reported 21 more deaths – in Nakhon Si Thammarat (9), Pattani (3), Chumphon (2), Songkhla (2), Satun (1), Yala (1), Narathiwat (1), Surat Thani (1) and Trang (1).
The North saw five new fatalities – in Chiang Mai (4) and Tak (1).
The 7,496 new cases included 7,244 local infections and 12 imported cases. Of the local infections, 6,942 were confirmed at hospitals and 302 via mass testing.
Bangkok had 752 new cases, followed by 496 in Songkhla, 391 in Chiang Mai, 375 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 355 in Pattani, 275 in Yala, 262 in Samut Prakan, 233 in Surat Thani, 222 in Chon Buri and 192 in Rayong.
The 12 imported cases were from Russia (2), Germany (1), the United States (2), the United Kingdom (2), Malaysia (3) and Myanmar (2).
