Thailand Covid 19 UPDATE

Thailand logged 12,353 new Covid-19 cases and 125 more fatalities during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday morning.

There were 11,821 cases in the general population and 532 among prison inmates.

On Saturday, 14,305 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Sunday afternoon Bangkok accounted for 27 fatalities and the rest were registered in 40 other provinces, including the capital’s five neighbours.

Bangkok also led new infections with 1,976 cases, followed by 713 in Samut Prakan, 651 in Chon Buri and 558 in Yala. It was the first time in recent days that the new cases in Bangkok was below 2,000.

But nationwide, the number of infected cases increased slightly to 12,341 from  the 11,956 reported on Saturday.

The country also imported 12 cases from five countries: seven from Malaysia, two from the United Arab Emirates and one each from Qatar, Israel and Cambodia.

On Saturday 122,463 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 3,324 seriously ill patients and 724 dependent on ventilators.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 380,625 in 24 hours to 232,278,968. The Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,532,775 Covid-19 patients, 1,395,481 of whom have recovered to date.

Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,561,638 Covid-19 cases, with 1,423,126  complete recoveries so far.

The death toll stood at 16,174 during the third wave and 16,268 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The kingdom’s all-time 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 18. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.

The worldwide death toll in the previous 24 hours went up by 5,961 to 4,757,346. The United States had the most cases at 43,725,604, up 54,114 and the most deaths at 706,058, up 765.
