The Army has released a white paper for 2024, outlining the procurement of various weaponry, including armed drones, to address security challenges facing Thailand over the next three years.
Published on Sunday, the white paper emphasized the need for this weaponry to protect the nation from a range of threats. While it provided an overview of the requested weaponry and equipment, specific details were not included.
In addition to armed drones and attack helicopters, the document highlighted the need for tanks, wheeled armored vehicles, patrol helicopters, transport aircraft, defense radar systems, territorial monitoring systems, and improved intelligence and communication equipment.
Army Chief Gen Charoenchai Hinthao stated that the white paper was distributed to inform the public about the army’s roles and development framework. He noted that the list of weaponry was based on anticipated challenges from now until 2027.
