Thai immigration police apprehended two Swedish men in Pattaya for visa overstays linked to a call center scam that caused over 50 million baht in damages. The arrest was announced at the Immigration Bureau.
Authorities had received information about the two men, suspected of involvement in the fraud scheme, who were hiding in Pattaya after fleeing Sweden.
During a check at a condominium, officers encountered the first suspect, identified as Mr. John, 24. When they examined his passport, they discovered he had overstayed his visa. He was immediately arrested for this violation and taken to Pattaya Police Station for further legal action.
Shortly afterward, another Swedish man, identified as Mr. Vladis, was also arrested. Both men reportedly have criminal records in Sweden related to the call center scam and were transferred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings.
