Police conducted a car chase against a drug suspect for about four hours in Nakhon Si Thammarat before killing him in a shootout on Tuesday night.
The suspect, Prapawit Boonnuang, 44, was killed inside his pickup truck on the Benjama-Na Phru road in Moo 5 vilage in Tambon Chai Montree in Muang district at 11pm. Police said they chased after the pickup after the driver refused to stop at a police road checkpoint in Prom Khiri district and fired at police at 7pm before fleeing.
Police who chased him fired and burst four tyres, but the drug suspect continued to drive for several kilometres before the pickup stopped.
Police said they found a .38 revolver and 107 methamphetamine pills in the pickup
