Soi Dog Foundation launches sterilization campaign

The Soi Dog Foundation has launched a new sterilization campaign in Nongprue to address the growing stray dog population. The campaign began at the Public Health Park Dome, offering sterilization services for both stray and domestic dogs.

The program aims to sterilize up to 40 dogs daily, with 20 slots reserved for stray animals and 20 for pets. This initiative is part of the foundation’s broader efforts to control the stray dog population using humane and sustainable methods. Established in Phuket in 2003, the Soi Dog Foundation has been dedicated to the welfare of stray dogs and cats, particularly on Phuket Island, where an estimated 70,000 stray animals roam. The organization has long promoted sterilization as a key strategy to manage and reduce the stray animal population.

The Nongprue campaign extends the foundation’s mission to alleviate the stray animal crisis across Thailand. The Soi Dog Foundation has already reached a significant milestone, sterilizing over one million dogs and cats in areas like Phuket, Bangkok, and other provinces. Their data shows that when over 80% of the stray population in a region is sterilized, a natural reduction in numbers occurs over time.

Nongprue, located in East Pattaya, has seen a rise in its stray dog population. By launching this campaign, the foundation aims to make a meaningful impact in the area and effectively manage the situation. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce the stray population and enhance the quality of life for both animals and residents.

The Soi Dog Foundation remains committed to ethical and effective solutions for the stray animal crisis. Through its sterilization programs, the foundation continues to demonstrate its dedication to humane and impactful approaches in animal welfare.
