Middlesbrough Move into 5th

With Bristol City in FA Cup action, Middlesbrough took the opportunity to climb above them with a 1-0 win at Blackburn Rovers thanks to a 19th minute goal from DR Congo forward Britt Assombalonga. Born in Zaire the 26 year old Assombalonga moved to the UK at the age of eight months and grew up in Camden. He’s made one international appearance for DR Congo.

He scored with a header from almost on the goal line after good work from Ashley Fletcher down the right. Right on half-time, Blackburn’s Derrick Williams received a straight red for bringing down Fetcher who appeared to have a clear run on goal from the edge of the 18 yard box.

Norwich Bounce Back

With Leeds United not playing during the weekend, Norwich City took the opportunity to go top again with a thumping 4-0 win at Bolton Wanderers with two goals from Teemu Pukki. The 28 year old Finish striker, who arrived on a free transfer from Danish club Brøndby, has scored in his last six games and has an impressive 23 in 30 league appearances for Norwich. A great response from Norwich who were beaten 3-1 at Preston just a few days before.

Sheffield United Hit Four

Sheffield United, with Gary Madine collecting a brace, also hit four against Reading who are just out of the bottom three by virtue of goal difference from Rotherham. United have now moved above Yorkshire rivals Leeds United, also on goal difference, but Leeds have a game in hand.
