Watch out Germany, the Tartan Army is coming! With Euro 2024 kicking off tomorrow, fans from across Europe are heading to Germany for a month-long football extravaganza.
Among the early arrivals are Scotland fans, eager to support their team as they face the hosts in the tournament opener in Munich.
Many members of the Tartan Army have decided to start the festivities before even leaving Scotland. And, naturally, their drink of choice is Scotland’s beloved Tennent’s.
Reports online suggest that the Tennent’s Bar at Glasgow Airport was drained of its Tennent’s supply by 9am, even before most people had their morning breakfast. On social media, Paul Malik commented, “9am at Glasgow Airport and the Tennent’s bar has run out of Tennent’s. Outstanding.”
Similar scenes unfolded across the country. One user mentioned that the keg at Aberdeen Airport needed changing as early as 5am. Another added, “I’m told it was the same at Edinburgh airport last night. An angry pal was left drinking Stella.”
Tomorrow evening, all eyes will be on Steve Clarke’s men as they face Germany in the opening match of Group A, which also includes Hungary and Switzerland. With only the top two teams guaranteed to advance to the last 16, a positive result against the hosts would significantly boost Scotland’s hopes of reaching their first-ever European Championship knockout game.
It’s clear that the Scots will have enthusiastic and vocal support in Munich, thanks to their early start in Scotland.
