According to the Kremlin on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin visited military headquarters in the portions of the Ukrainian provinces of Kherson and Luhansk that are under Russian control.
Putin attended a military command meeting in the Kherson region to hear updates on the situation in the territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, both of which Moscow has annexed as part of its territory. The commanders of the airborne troops and the “Dnieper” army group as well as other senior officers gave their reports.
In preparation for a Ukrainian counteroffensive, Russian forces withdrew from Kherson, the provincial capital, last November and have been fortifying their positions on the other bank of the Dnipro river.
Putin has also been to the national guard’s headquarters in eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk area, which Moscow annexed last year.
Putin’s attendance at the sessions was not specified by the Kremlin.
