Police Warn Motorbike Taxi Drivers Against Overcharging

Pattaya authorities have issued a warning to motorbike taxi drivers, urging them not to overcharge passengers, particularly during the upcoming International Fireworks Festival on November 29th and 30th.

Caesar Palace Hotel in Pattaya, Pol. Col. Navin Teerawit, Chief of Pattaya Police Station, led a meeting with local motorbike taxi operators in preparation for the 2024 festival. Representatives from various motorbike taxi groups throughout the city were present.

The International Fireworks Festival will take place on November 29th and 30th, with Pattaya Beach Road closed to traffic from the Dolphin Roundabout to the Wat Chaimongkol Intersection, and Pattaya Central Road shut from Tops Supermarket to the Nipa Lodge Intersection, from 3:00 PM to midnight. Parking will also be prohibited along Pattaya Beach Road from 5:00 AM to midnight to accommodate the expected influx of visitors for the event.

Pol. Col. Navin emphasized that motorbike taxi drivers were summoned to discuss transport arrangements during the festival, with clear instructions on designated passenger pick-up points. He also stressed that drivers must not charge passengers more than the standard rates under any circumstances.
