Pattaya to stop street vendors on walking street from 3rd July

Officials from Pattaya City informed Walking Street shop owners of anticipated changes to present policies and procedures in a letter earlier this week. The notification from Pattaya City officials below states that as of Monday, July 3rd, all street vendors and booths that are not a part of a legally permitted building company would have to be completely removed from Walking Street.

Pattaya City did not provide a detailed explanation for the change, but several social media users theorized that it was a response to illegal cannabis and alcohol vendors who were selling on the street. This, however, was just conjecture. It’s not clear if food and apparel merchants would be allowed to operate on side streets or if the Walking Street area as a whole would be included.

It is uncertain how long this ban on food carts and street sellers from Walking Street would last because Pattaya City has attempted to do this before.
