In two separate occurrences today (Wednesday) in the northern provinces of Nakhon Phanom and Phichit, anti-narcotics police have confiscated about 12 million meth pills.
In the first occurrence, police in Nakhon Phanom waited at a road roadblock until a car that matched the description in an investigation’s report arrived. An estimated 4.8 million methamphetamine pills were found in the car’s trunk when it was halted for a search.
According to reports, the driver of the vehicle—who gave the police just the name “Thirayuth”—and his female passenger, Boonruang, said that they were on their way to deliver the drugs to a client in the province of Saraburi.
In the second instance, authorities in Phichit province’s Mueang district stopped a pickup truck on Highway 111. The motorist left the car on the road after getting out and running away. The police found 6.7 million pills of methamphetamine.
After hiding in the marsh for a few hours, the car’s driver—whom authorities eventually detained under the alias “Natthanon”—was apprehended.
