Man found dead under Ayutthaya bridge, heat stroke suspected

An unemployed man was found dead under a bridge near his makeshift shelter in Ayutthaya’s Uthai district early on Tuesday, police said.

Local residents catching fish near the bridge in Moo 7 village in Tambon Thanu spotted the decomposed body and called the Uthai police station at 1am Tuesday.

The man was identified as Paithoon Plupphachai, 54, a resident of Moo 7 village. Police said Paithoon had no job and lived in a make-shift shelter near the bridge.

A doctor determined he had died about two days ago.

Police suspected that the man escaped heat from his shelter to sleep under the bridge but died, apparently of heat stroke. His body showed no outward traces of injury,

The body was sent for autopsy at Thammasat University Hospital.
