A 32-year-old Indian man has been apprehended in Kanchanaburi province for allegedly fatally stabbing a 51-year-old Thai woman 31 times at a hotel in Bangkok on Tuesday night.
According to reports from the media, both the man and the victim had been lodging at a five-story hotel on Soi Wutthakat 14 Road in Thon Buri district since April 7. The woman typically spent her days at the hotel and left at night. She was a mother to a 20-year-old son.
On Tuesday, a hotel staff member reported hearing a heated argument emanating from their second-floor room around noon. The employee attempted to contact the room via phone twice, only for the calls to be abruptly terminated upon answering. Shortly after 1 pm, the Indian man calmly exited the hotel premises and departed on a blue-grey motorcycle registered in Nakhon Pathom province.
Subsequently, police were summoned to the room, where they discovered the lifeless body of the Thai woman, Sukanya Disayabut, bearing 31 stab wounds. A bloodied 30-centimeter knife was recovered from the scene.
The suspect, identified as Rajman Yabav, was arrested in Tha Maka district of Kanchanaburi border province on Tuesday night. He was found at Makarak Hospital, receiving treatment for a significant knife wound to his right arm.
Reportedly, Mr. Yabav confessed to the murder, citing anger as his motivation. However, police awaited an interpreter to conduct further interrogation.
