On Friday, a horrific knife attack at a mall in Hong Kong left two female shoppers dead before the claimed attacker was taken down.
Shortly after 5 o’clock, the 39-year-old male attacker started on the third floor of the Plaza Hollywood retail center in Diamond Hill, according to the police.
A police spokeswoman stated, “An initial investigation indicated that two victims were left unconscious after a knife attack,” adding that the alleged assailant was apprehended on the spot. He stated that the two victims, who were 22 and 26 years old, were transferred to United Christian Hospital while they were unconscious.
One of the victims is seen in an internet photo being held down by the knifeman, who is wearing a white vest and shorts, during the attack outside a store.
In a video posted online, a group of police officers approaching the attacker while brandishing pepper spray orders him to down the weapon. The suspect is then seen being handcuffed by officers as they rush the suspect and drag him to the ground. A 15-centimeter knife was discovered by the police.
Another footage that has been shared online shows the two women strolling together through the mall before the attacker stabs one of them repeatedly in the back. The woman collapses to the ground, but the vicious assault goes on. The injured woman is dragged for a short distance in the 59-second footage by her partner before the knifeman catches up and resumes his attack.
The wounded woman is taken away while the attacker is booted away, leaving a bloody trail on the ground. The video shows the offender hitting the unharmed woman then stabbing the victim repeatedly until her companion returns and kicks him.
While the assailant pursues the second woman, the stabbing victim is left unmoving on the ground.
No bystanders are seen in the video daring to approach the two women and give assistance.
While officers conducted their investigation, the area was roped off.
The suspect is being held for interrogation after being transported to the Wong Tai Sin Police Station. The case, which has been labeled as a murder, is being investigated by detectives from the Kowloon East regional crime section.
