Joint Task Force Raids Pattaya Entertainment Areas, Targeting Illegal Immigration and Begging

Joint Task Force Raids Pattaya Entertainment Areas, Targeting Illegal Immigration and Begging

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya immigration authorities, in collaboration with local law enforcement and administrative agencies, launched a coordinated crackdown on illegal immigration and unauthorized begging in the city’s entertainment districts.

The operation was prompted by media reports highlighting a rising number of beggars, particularly women and children, soliciting around entertainment venues in Pattaya.

During the raid, officers apprehended nine illegal immigrants from Cambodia, including mothers with children, who had unlawfully entered Thailand via the Chanthaburi border. These individuals were arrested for illegal immigration and unauthorized begging. Additionally, eight Thai nationals were also detained for begging without permission.

In a separate incident, authorities arrested three Cambodian nationals posing as monks along Pattaya’s Walking Street. The individuals were taken to Wat Tham Samakkhee, where the local abbot defrocked them before they were handed over to the Chonburi Immigration Office for legal proceedings and deportation.

This operation is part of an ongoing initiative to maintain public order, curb illegal activities, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both tourists and residents in Pattaya.
