The acclaimed action thriller series “Fauda,” which follows Israeli undercover operatives, is gearing up for its fifth season, with filming set to commence in late April. Yes Studios is managing international distribution, while the new season will debut on Yes TV in Israel before rolling out globally on Netflix.
Currently in pre-production, Season 5 will take place both in Israel and abroad as the Fauda team embarks on a private mission. Created by actor Lior Raz and journalist Avi Issacharoff, this season will feature a talented crew, including writer Omri Shenhar from “Tehran” and director Omri Givon, who previously directed Season 4. Cast and storyline details remain under wraps for now.
“Fauda,” meaning “chaos” in Arabic, is expected to premiere in early 2026 on Yes TV before becoming available on Netflix, which has streamed the earlier four seasons. The series is produced by Yes TV in collaboration with L. Benasuly Productions.
Sharon Levi, managing director of Yes Studios, remarked, “Since its premiere on Yes TV in February 2015, ‘Fauda’ has grown into a global phenomenon. We can’t imagine a better way to celebrate this milestone than by bringing ‘Fauda’ back for its dedicated fans around the world.” The series draws on the real-life experiences of its creators, aiming to depict the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the contemporary Middle East through the narratives of elite Israeli agents apprehending terrorists.
The development of Season 5 faced delays following the October 7 Hamas attack and the subsequent war in Gaza. Tragically, one of the production’s key members, Matan Meir, lost his life in a booby-trapped tunnel in northern Gaza while serving in the IDF, while cast member Idan Amedi sustained serious injuries in an explosion. Reports indicate that the season’s script has been revised due to these events. Celebrated for its authentic performances and gripping storylines, “Fauda” has received multiple accolades, including best series, screenplay, director, and actor at the Israeli Academy TV Awards.
