Still in the grips of the COVID-19 pandemic, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced new restrictions on social gatherings, a measure he’s calling the “rule of six”.
“In England, from Monday, we’re introducing the rule of 6. You must not meet socially in groups of more than six, and if you do, you will be breaking the law.”
Gatherings will be restricted to a maximum of six people, whether indoors or outdoors.
The new rules will not apply to workplaces, schools, weddings or funerals.
Johnson stressed that strengthened rules were “not another national lockdown”, but measures to avoid a second lockdown.
