In the early hours of Wednesday, a Vietnamese employee was shot dead and another was wounded while drinking with the owner’s son at a seafood restaurant in Bang Khunthian district, Bangkok.
The incident occurred at Khrua Thabthim seafood restaurant on Soi Thian Thalae 23, Thian Thalae Road, in the Tha Kham area.
Pol Capt Thatsanai Khudsap, the deputy investigation chief of Thian Thalae, stated that the police were informed about the shooting at approximately 3:30 am.
Upon arrival, police, forensic officials, medics, and rescue workers discovered a man lying face-up in a pool of blood on the restaurant floor with a single gunshot wound to his head. Six empty beer bottles were found on a nearby table.
The victim was identified through his work permit as Hong Van Duc, a 28-year-old Vietnamese national employed at the restaurant.
Another Vietnamese employee, identified as 39-year-old Dinh Van Trang, had been shot in the chest and back but survived. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is reportedly out of danger.
Investigations revealed that the two victims had been drinking with the owner’s son after the restaurant closed. The son allegedly became angry and shot Hong Van Duc in the head, killing him instantly. He then allegedly shot Dinh Van Trang in the chest and back as he tried to escape. The shooter subsequently fled the scene.
Police are reviewing security camera footage and have initiated a search for the shooter.
On Wednesday morning, a man identified only as Thanakorn surrendered at Thian Thalae police station, facilitated by his family. He is currently being questioned
