The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has made a big discovery, over 200 foreigners have been using Thai names to receive rights that are granted to only Thai citizens, mostly towards business operations.
Many of these businesses are illegal directly affecting national security. Officials from the Department of Provincial Administration (DOPA) inspected Thaizee Pattana Group company in Huai Khwang District, Bangkok.
The search is a result of an investigation in Chiang Rai Province that revealed over 200 suspicious names pointing towards foreigners gaining access as a Thai citizen to access citizen’s rights.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Korawach Panprapaporn from the DSI stated that one of the foreigners is Apao Chasuen involved in 4 illegal companies that include a company on selling rice, a real estate company, a construction company, and a property management company that owns a golf course, together the companies are worth more than 3,600 Million THB.
The ownership of such companies is a violation of the Foreign Business Act, B.E.2542 (1999). Thaizee Pattana Group is one of 4 companies owned by Apao. Officials also found important documents that prove as evidence, this includes foreign real estate investment contracts, financial documents, and property sales contracts.
Apao had owned a Thai ID for only 15 days when he became the owner of such a company. Apao’s business poses a threat to national security as he is using the rights of a Thai citizen to conduct businesses, own assets such as property, vehicles, and guns.
Officials are investigating the other 3 companies belonging to Apao. It is yet unclear to where the companies are based, the source of income, and the nominees of the companies with persons including his maid and employees. The DSI is also investigating Thai officials related to the issuing of Thai ID cards to such foreigners.
