A drunken foreign man is accused of attacking a German man and his Thai wife in Pattaya.
Pattaya police were alerted to a violent altercation involving foreigners at Gold Bar Beer, located on Soi 6, Pattaya Beach Road, in Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The police, along with local rescue services, quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Mr. Ral Peter Mallon, 60, a German national, with a severe head injury, and his 27-year-old Thai wife, Ms. Pornwin Ramakul, who had a loose tooth. Both were administered first aid before being transported to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
Witness Ms. Kanyarat Wansena, 28, reported that while she and her friends were at the bar, an intoxicated foreign man began harassing them. He accused them of upsetting one of his friends, which Ms. Kanyarat denied. Despite their efforts to de-escalate the situation, the man became aggressive. When Mr. Mallon tried to intervene, the assailant allegedly punched him, causing him to fall and suffer a head injury that required over nine stitches. Doctors have advised he remain under observation due to concerns about possible brain trauma. The suspect also struck Ms. Kanyarat, resulting in her loose tooth.
The suspect, who refused to disclose his identity to the authorities, identified himself only as “Michael,” 44. During a media photo session, he made an obscene gesture toward the police officers. He later attempted to resolve the situation by offering compensation to the victims. However, the police are waiting for the victims to recover before deciding on further legal action against the assailant.
