Insisting on his innocence, a van driver turned himself in to the police on Monday, accusing him of drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl.
Provincial Police Region 4 acting commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sarayuth Sanguanphokai stated he received word on Monday that the suspect—whose identity was kept secret—had surrendered himself in to Waeng Noi Police. He brought his van so the cops could look it over.
The suspect said he would never conduct such acts and that he had thirty years of experience driving public vans. He refuted all of the accusations made against him.
A multidisciplinary team of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security had been brought in to collaborate with police detectives to ascertain the case’s facts.
Pol Lt Gen Sarayuth stated that because the person is still in shock, the procedure can take some time.
According to reports, the event happened on October 1st, when the girl’s parents hired a public van to transport their daughter from Khon Kaen to Bangkok. The girl’s older sibling had left the day before and returned without any problems, investigators were informed.
The girl was expected to come on October 2 in the morning, according to Suay, the victim’s grandmother, but she didn’t get there until about midday.
When questioned, the motorist attributed the hold-up to nearby road construction.
Relatives noticed some behavioral changes in the child after the siblings, traveling back to Khon Kaen with the same chauffeur on October 31, when she began experiencing nightmares that prevented her from falling asleep.
According to Suay, her granddaughter reported that while traveling from Khon Kaen to Bangkok, the van driver had drugged and sexually molested her.
The girl claimed that at first light, the suspect persuaded her to take a sip of water from a container, offering to take her to see her parents if she did.
The child said that the man had threatened and sexually assaulted her after she complained of feeling lightheaded.
According to Suay, the girl also stated that the seats of the van had bloodstains on them.
