More than 250 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated after being smuggled across the river to Thailand’s Mukdahan province, said police on Friday.
After receiving a tip-off that a massive illicit narcotic is to be smuggled across the river from Thailand to land at Ban Bang Sai Noi in the province, the Navy’s Mekong Riverine Unit Operation Command were dispatched to take them down.
The forces arrived too late, as the suspected drug traffickers had already left the scene, leaving behind 13 sacks of estimated methamphetamine to be more than Bt370 million.
