Two Chinese tourists and a Thai man were safely rescued after their boat, driven by the Thai man, capsized in a rainstorm in Ao Nang Bay, Muang district, on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred near Phi Phi Le Island in Tambon Ao Nang at around 11 am. People on a speedboat from Narayana Marine Co. rescued a Chinese man, a Chinese girl, and a Thai boat driver.
Crew members on the speedboat, named “Varit,” jumped into the sea and provided life vests to the three victims clinging to the capsized boat amid the rainstorm. The three were then safely hauled by rope onto the speedboat.
The sea was rough off Krabi and nearby Phuket at the time. On Saturday evening, four Thai teenagers ignored red flags and lifeguards’ warnings not to swim off Surin Beach in Thalang district, Phuket.
Shortly after, waves swept them out to sea, and one teenager went missing. Lifeguards rescued the other three, but one was unconscious and later pronounced dead at Thalang Hospital.
