Connor Hitchens, a former competitor for Cage Warriors, has tragically passed away at the age of 26.
The English promotion announced Hitchens’ death on Tuesday, along with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). The exact time and cause of his death have not been disclosed. MMA commentator Harry Williams was the first to report the news.
Hitchens made his Cage Warriors debut in April 2022 after winning six of his first seven professional bouts. Unfortunately, he lost by second-round knockout to Manny Akpan in what would be his final fight, as he had not competed since.
Before turning professional, Hitchens had an extensive amateur career, participating in nearly 20 fights from 2013 to 2017. Notably, he secured decision victories over current undefeated Bellator standout Ciaran Clarke and recent PFL and Cage Warriors fighter Dominique Wooding.
IMMAF President Kerrith Brown expressed his condolences, stating, “On behalf of the entire International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Connor Hitchens.”
