In response to a public plea for justice from the wife of 65-year-old Canadian Mark Robert Westendorf, who was severely injured in a July 31st incident on Pattaya Soi 6, new developments have come to light.
On the evening of August 4, Pol. Col. Navin Theerawit, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, convened a meeting where 28-year-old Patipan Sohaeng, the Soi 6 security guard involved in the incident, was summoned to provide his account.
Patipan testified that on the day of the incident, he received reports from locals about a foreigner attempting to break into a car. When the car owner confronted the man, the situation escalated as the foreigner became verbally abusive. Patipan intervened but found the man uncooperative. The altercation intensified when the foreigner pushed Patipan against the car, prompting him to push back. A second attempt by the foreigner to approach Patipan resulted in another push, causing the foreigner to fall and hit his head on the ground.
Patipan stressed that eyewitnesses did not witness the entire sequence of events. He tried to explain the situation to the tourist, who quickly left the scene. After seeing news reports, Patipan contacted the police to provide his version of events.
CCTV footage of the incident shows no punches but rather a confrontation involving pushing, which led to the tourist’s fall and head injury. This footage has been submitted as evidence to the investigators to ensure a thorough and fair investigation for all parties involved.
